BLOG # 28 in a day of my life. Last night I heard an angel-and saw a cherub dance.

     When you are a grandparent- you will go to any length to keep these children close to you and close to your heart. As a grandparent, you sorta think back to all those years you raised your own children and think of missed opportunities because of you hectic life and trying to provide for them.

       YOU JUST DO NOT FEEL THE SAME WAY-YOU ARE TOO BUSY DEALING WITH LIFE! TOO MANY DISTRACTIONS-TOO MANY WHAT IFS AND I CAN'T 'S!


     Last night I heard an angel sing. It is as simple as that. No fuss , no muss.

     She has an incredible voice and can sing without the music in the background!

SUCH A STAGE PRESENCE-SHY A LITTLE BIT IN LIFE-BUT ONCE SHE GETS
UPFRONT-IT ALL GOES AWAY-AND THAT IS WHEN YOU HEAR THE VOICE
OF AN ANGEL!

      Now I know that you are thinking-it's his granddaughter- and you are right-that slants my view. BUT! STUDENT COUNCIL PRESIDENT-SELECTED ONE OF FIVE OUT OF HUNDREDS FOR ALL DISTRICT CHORUS-STRAIGHT A'S(FOR 5 YRS) A STAR SOCCER PLAYER-PRINCIPLE AWARD WINNER IN EACH OF HER 5 YRS IN SCHOOL-AND IT GOES ON!



     I CAN ONLY SAY-WE ARE SO PROUD-AND YET THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF HER YOUNG LIFE- ELEVEN YEARS OLD-AND THE FLOWER IS ALREADY BLOOMING. TO BE A GRANDPARENT-OF AN EXTRAORDINARY YOUNG LADY IS- WELL- WHAT BEING A GRANDPARENT IS ALL ABOUT!

     WHEN one goes back - and sees ELLA as she was a few years ago-shy-Quiet-funny when no one is around- a DETERMINED little girl- full of fun and joy on the inside- just waiting to explode on the scene-only to go back into that protected area she put up because of that Drama we had when we almost lost her at 1 1/2 years old in the hospital.

THAT EPISODE  LITERALLY CHANGED HER OVERNIGHT- AND IT HAS TAKEN ALL THESE YEARS TO BRING THE LITTLE GIRL OUT AGAIN!

And she has emerged from her cacoon into a beautiful BUTTERFLY- floating and soaring in the gentle breezes, exalting in her grades(all A's) Principle awards- a soccer star who shuts everything out and drives to the goal and SCORES- not once-not twice-but multiple times against girls and BOYS!


     And here she is , the one with the E on her costume- performing -the first act- in front of 300 people! THIS WAS AN ACCOMPLISHMENT! She never would of done this-but there she was, our little Cherub those many years ago, DANCING-JIVING-PERFORMING! You have to understand, she was quiet-she was watching-always so vigilent, and this is now our joy-her joy- her coming out and bursting forth to show the world that she is cute-bright-funny and full of life!

The little girl who all of a sudden has broken free and is staring to soar-reaching for her dreams and beyond. SHE RAN MADDY'S CAMPAIGN FOR STUDENT COUNCIL PRESIDENT!

      Yes I know, I am a grandparent and BIAS-but tell that to the school- where the awards are piling up. Tell that to her coach's and to all the PEOPLE who come up afterward and heap unsolicated praise on her!

     Yes , we are grandparents, we are Bias, we have a stake in this, we are proud, we are so fortunate, BUT IT IS HER, WHO HAS COME FORTH-OUR LITTLE CHERUB-A BUTTERFLY CATCHING THE WIND AND GENTLY FLOATING UPWARDS! It is ELLA, the quiet one performing in front of hundreds, making a statement, a statement of YES I AM HERE AND I WILL NOT GO AWAY AGAIN! MY NAME IS ELLA-AND I CAN SOAR! I CAN FLY! I AM ME!
