There are so many images that bring back vivid memories of times gone by. Some you will have used-some you will have seen and then there are those that you never saw. All have a link to your past.
Although I never owned one-I do remember seeing this- just can't quite remember where. Reel to reel tapes were not REAL in our house! LOL
Tinker toys & Erector sets.
I know I had the first-the second I did not have-maybe too expensive?
But I DID HAVE THESE! I spent hours and hours playing with the Lincoln Logs set. I would build a fort- and then turn the little logs upright as imaginary cowboy's and soldiers protecting the fort from Indians! I did this for years as it was my favorite toy- some inner kid in me wishes somehow I had them back- to place them as a trophy-you often wonder what happened to them-at least I do!
Yes folks- I do remember this! LOL
Growing up-when I finished my freshmen year- it was at this point I HAD TO HAVE A JOB! I went to work for BUD BURR at the end of my Sophomore year. I worked there during the summers and pumped gas among other things- and 25 cent gas was it! People thought that was high-and it contained lead. Why when they took the lead out-didn't the price drop? WHO KNOWS!
GREEN STAMPS! Everyone saved them in their books
made especially for GREEN STAMPS. You would see signs everywhere. I can remember friends of my parents , Lena & Dee Wright-coming to our house after they had returned from vacation and telling my parents how they were traveling out west- they came around the bend- and there was a sign- "JESUS SAVES" and right below it was another sign "GREEN STAMPS" This brought a lot of laughs at the house that night. I always remember that when I see GREEN STAMPS! LOL
HERE IS THE ORIGINAL 15 cent HAMBURGER!
Did not have one in our area- as I mentioned before-but it was out there-I do not remember the first time I saw this sign. BUT I REMEMBER CARROL'S!
I collected baseball cards-had lots of them. They might of been worth something today if I had saved them. I also remember you got decals of major Universities- the one I remember the most as a kid was DUKE BLUE DEVILS-it was cool as it had a red and blue devil with horns-was lined with silver-I put that one on my bike- although I had no Idea where Duke was or what it represented- BUT IT WAS COOL! LOL
YES PENNY CANDY! On the way to the old School in Eldred was a little store on Mechanic street called "AUNT MAYS" I would head there when I had a few pennies! That was PRICELESS! There also was a store on main street-can't quite remember the name-something like Roses? They had a whole aisle up front with penny candy!
Good old George and the 5 cent stamp! Yes it is true! LOL
You know- there was no microwave-we would pop this on the stove over the gas burner-I can still see it-hear it and smell it. Memories are great!
This will be the last one for today. It has been great bringing these back!
I never made one of these- same as I am not very TECHIE today!
But I remember them-seems like the "GIRLS" made them! LOL I do not know if it was a guy thing !
Anyways- I will post part 4 tomorrow, so hang in there for some more BLASTS FROM THE PAST!
Keep those comments coming as they also bring back the memories! HGD
