Blog Day # 185 in a day of my life. Rwanda- Rwamagana Lutheran School.

Our church- Community Lutheran - in Sterling Va. , has a mission- to help and support a Rwanda Lutheran School- RWAMAGANA LUTHERAN - we, along with another church in California- have helped support the building and staffing of the mission school since its inception.

Today- the students-all 70 of them- go up the stairs and beyond- this was not always the case. Before , they just went to the top of the stairs. A fulfilment to Humanity is the driving force behind our mission. You see, GENOCIDE in Rwanda- almost completely wiped our all the adults- leaving only the children- with no one to teach them and no one to hand down their heritage.

Where they had no instruments and used only their hands-voices and chalk boards- they now have recorders and musical instruments to play.

The dorms were set up in the class rooms- and our funding will build a new dorm.

                                                    THE DORM ROOM BEING BUILT

                                           SLOWLY COMIMG TOGETHER

THE FLOOR IS DONE AND JUST IN TIME AS THE HEAVY RAIN SEASON STARTED-
AND NO WATER CAME IT!

THESE DORM ROOMS WILL ALLOW THE STUDENTS TO STAY ON CAMPUS INSTEAD OF WALKING FOR HOURS AND MILES BACK AND FORTH!

During the GENOCIDE, all the books were destroyed, you have more books in your house than cities have. They wanted no one to be able to read. Here, twice a week, the students are given time to themselves to READ! Something we take for granted. This is to insure that they develop the habit of reading- for these are the adults of Rwanda- the innocents  the children!

                                          ALMOST FINISHED-THE NEW DORM ROOM

MANY OF THE FEMALE CHILDREN-HAVE A GOAL-TO RETURN SOMEDAY AS THE WIFE OF A LUTHERAN PASTOR OR AS A PASTOR THEMSELVES- BELOW ARE THE WIVES OF THE LUTHERAN PASTORS WHO VISITED THE SCHOOL.

                          CLASS ROOMS AND TEACHERS-STUDENTS LEARNING

THE TEACHERS ARE YOUNG ADULTS THEMSELVES-BARELY SURVIVING THE GENOCIDE.

THERE ARE CHOICES TO BE MADE EVERY DAY- THE GREEN TREE SNAKE IS HARD TO TELL FROM THE GREEN MAMBA- WHICH BOTH MOVE VERY QUICKLY- HERE A CHOICE HAD TO BE MADE- THE GREEN TREE SNAKE WAS IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME- CHOICES THAT THESE CHILDREN FACE EVERY HOUR OF THE DAY.

A GROUP OF YOUNG STUDENTS-AFTER GOING TO A HOSPITAL
TO DISTRIBUTE USED CLOTHES TO THE NEEDY- BOYS ARE BOYS THE WORLD OVER!

HERE IS JOSSELYN-AT THE HOSPITAL- TO GIVE DONATED CLOTHING TO THE NEEDY- AGAIN- CHILDREN ARE CHILDREN THE WORLD OVER!

BETTY ANN - FROM OUR CHURCH- DEMONSTRATING A SET OF LUNGS
DONATED FOR SCIENCE CLASS. BETTY WENT ON A MISSION TRIP THIS PAST SUMMER WITH OTHERS FROM OUR CHURCH.

I HOPE THIS GIVES YOU SOME INSIGHT ON THE WORKS OF THE CHURCH IN ANOTHER PART OF THE WORLD. WE ARE ALL ONE IN THIS WORLD-SOME JUST HAVE MORE THAN OTHERS- BELOW IS ONE ON ONE TIME WITH TEACHER AND STUDENT- A QUIET TIME AND PLACE TO GO OVER WITH EACH STUDENT HOW HE OR SHE IS DOING SO THEY CAN DO BETTER. SOMEONE TEACHING THE YOUNG-AFTER THEIR PARENTS WERE KILLED.

ABOVE OTHER PORTIONS OF THE SCHOOL BEING BUILT-ONE BLOCK AT A TIME!

THE SCHOOL NOW HAS 8 COMPUTERS-HOW MANY DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR HOUSE!

                                              A SCHOOL PLAY BEING REHEARSED

AS I WRAP THIS UP-I HOPE I HAVE GIVEN YOU SOME INSIGHT INTO OUR MISSION IN RWANDA- WITH THE RWAMAGANA LUTHERAN SCHOOL.

KNOW THAT WE CARE-THAT WE HELP-THAT IT IS OUR MISSION AS A CHURCH TO SPREAD THE WORD OF GOD AND TO SHARE WHAT WE HAVE WITH OTHERS LESS FORTUNATE.

GO IN PEACE-THANKS BE TO GOD- WE ARE ONE IN THIS WORLD OF OURS!
